A Seminar on International Students’ PhD Programs Held

On April5,2022, an online seminar on how to develop international students’ PhD programs was held at NCUST. Qi Xiwei, vice president of the University, together with deans and teachers from the School of Mining Engineering, the School of Metallurgy and Energy, the School of Public Health, and International Education College attended the seminar. Zhang Yidong, dean of IEC hosted this seminar.

Qi noted, international education plays an important role in the process of international exchange and cooperation of the university. Under the background of globalization, internalization of higher education is an essential symbol of soft power and cultural confidence of a country. He emphasized, the university is to highly focus on international education and make full use of strengths of related subjects to develop international education comprehensively to meet the demand of promoting the educational quality and constructing first-rate universities and disciplines. In addition, International Education College together with related schools is to be cooperative in top-level design to draft policies and documents concerned, to further construct the instructor team, and to fully use resources home and abroad for the exchange and cooperation of teaching staff. Last but not least, the university is to be determined to speed up international education development and gain new achievements.

At the seminar, dean from IEC analyzed the current situation, significance and related policies and documents of international education of the university. Attendees discussed on issues of the cultivation plan, language requirements, degree thesis instructions and put forward suggestions accordingly.
