Electrical Safety Tips
Release time:2016/11/03  Browse times:
Indoors, outdoors... it's hard to imagine a place where electricity doesn't make our lives easier - or put us at risk. Thus, electrical safety should be a top priority of every individual. Here are a few tips: 1. Extension cords are for temporary use only. Dorms may not have enough outlets to plug in all your gadgets at once; so, if you must use extension cords make sure you unplug them when not in use. Remember, overloaded extension cords could start fires. 2. Avoid handling any switches or electrical wires with wet hands. Remember, the results of mixing water with electricity are usually fatal. Always handle all electrical appliances with dry hands. 3. Keep all electrical cords safely away from bedding, curtains, or other flammable materials. 4. Discard or repair any damaged electronics as they can shock or electrocute you. Make sure you don't harm yourself in an attempt to save money. 5. Make sure the smoke alarms in your room are functioning as they should be so that you may be alerted in case of any emergency. Also make sure you know what to do in case of a fire, including escape and meeting plans; and try your best to save your absolute necessities (passport, documents, cash) in case of such an emergency. Remember, your family sent you here to become a doctor. Try your best to go back to them alive. Better safe than sorry.
